Detroit Historical Museum
The Detroit Historical Museum is committed to commemorating the city’s interesting past, particularly how it earned the designation – and reputation – as the automobile industry’s epicentre. Reconstructions of historic Detroit streets, model railroads, and dioramas are among the exhibits that provide visitors a basic picture of the city and the events that formed it.
Details regarding the city’s industry and people’s essential role in World War II, Detroit’s participation in the Underground Railroad, and other distinguishing aspects of the city are included in other exhibitions. The Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle is run by the Detroit Historical Society and examines the city’s maritime heritage.
